The founders of Popurrí, Lucía Gil and Eugenia Entrecanales, bring us a new way of conceiving cultural plans in Madrid. Through youthful and fun activities they open the artistic-cultural panorama to the youngest people, proactively generating their interest in participating in their events and art.
Visita al estudio de Carlos León – Torrecaballeros
On this occasion, ARA has had the pleasure of collaborating with them by organizing a cultural visit to the outskirts of Madrid. “Artistic getaway to Segovia” has taken us to Torrecaballeros, where we have attended the studio of the artist Carlos León; awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts. With more than fifty years of professional experience behind him, León is positioned as one of the most prominent artists on the national contemporary art scene, where institutions such as the Reina Sofía have his work. León has opened his world to us from his studio where we have been able to get to know the artist in his most authentic version, as well as his latest projects.

After the foray into the worlds of the Ceuta artist, we headed to one of the must-visit places for Segovians, El Rancho de la Aldeagüela, where we were able to enjoy authentic Segovian cuisine.
Visita a la Colección MER – Segovia
Finally, we moved to the city center to attend one of the best Spanish collections, The MER Collection. More than forty years ago, Elena Rueda and Marcos Martín entered the world of collecting, encouraged, unconsciously, by the painter Gerardo Rueda, thanks to whom they began to enter the world of art through galleries and museums, giving rise to three more years late at the beginning of his collection. With more than seven hundred works, the MER collection has great artists such as Miquel Barceló, Pablo Palazuelo, Luis Gordillo, Carlos León, from the national level and Marlene Dumas, Francesco Clemente, Cindy Sherman or Thomas Ruff, from the international level. A journey that we have taken first-hand through their son, Rafael.
